Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless Review

I’ve recently been obsessed with foundations and trying new ones. Even though I need to use up the open foundations in my drawer, the new releases from the drugstore have called to me, so I had to try them! First up, Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless.

I got this foundation in shade Natural Ivory 112. I was so excited about the Matte and Poreless claims, especially because those are the 2 things I look for most in a foundation. The biggest disappointment…

NO PUMP! Why people still make liquid foundations without a pump…I’ll never know. So that’s a strike against it. Here’s are the details…

The finish: Certainly matte, especially on first application. It cuts down on pore visibility a little, but nothing magical. It is a semi-matte finish on my skin and looks really pretty.

The application: I think this applies best with a Beauty Blender. It is a pretty runny foundation, and when I use the Beauty Blender, it sheers out really nice. When I’ve used foundation brushes, I don’t like the finish. I kept getting brush strokes and a weird patchy look.

The wear time: This is the biggest downfall of the foundation. It wears nicely for about 5 hours. After that, it started breaking up on my chin and around my nose. I also start getting oily after about 5 hours.

The verdict: This is a nice foundation, but when it starts breaking down that soon even with a primer and powder, it’s not something that gets replaced in my foundation drawer. Nice for people who are less oily than me or for short wear time, but I think there are better drugstore options.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation Empty/Review

Naked Foundation

I’ve gone through one of my favorite foundations, and I’m excited to review it here – the Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation. The shades pictured are 0.5 and 3.5. I was originally color matched at 3.5, but that was too dark for my skin, so I ended up mixing it with my true match – 0.5. The two aren’t honestly too different, as you can see from the photo, but it made a big enough difference.

This foundation gives a light to medium buildable coverage. It sits beautifully on the skin and doesn’t feel like you’re wearing foundation. The finish is a little on the dewy side, and if you struggle with oily skin like I do, you need to use a good primer to make it last all day. I love the way this wears, its finish and how it feels. I’ve used it with the BeautyBlender and the Sigma F50. The F50 is especially good if you just want light coverage. This foundation is what converted me to non-full coverage foundations, and I really love it. I’ve already repurchased it, and this will be a go-to when it’s not super hot and humid outside. One of the biggest downsides is the limited shade range, but if you can find one that works for you, it’s a great light to medium coverage product.

Have you tried this foundation? What are your feelings on it?

Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation – First Impressions

I’ve been on a kick of trying new foundations and using up old ones lately. I had heard a lot about the Cover Girl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation, so I wanted to try it out as a new option for the drugstore. (Also, longest name ever).

The foundation claims to be an “All-in-one foundation with a long-lasting formula that fuses primer, concealer, and foundation in one easy step! The 3-in-1 formula provides a flawless look that lasts all day long.” I got it for $12.99 at Ulta.

I applied this foundation with my Sigma F80 brush over Benefit’s Porefessional Primer. I wanted to test the staying power of the foundation, but I’ve found that the Porefessional doesn’t do too much to extend the wear of my foundation, so I didn’t think it would affect the wear too much. Like my Double Wear First Impressions post, I tested the wear of this foundation throughout the day. (Sorry for the crazy eyes…)

As you can see, it held up pretty well! It broke down around my chin, especially towards the end of the day, but overall, I was really pleased with it. This foundation feels really light on the skin, and I think applying with the F80 is a great choice for application. I’ve been pretty disappointed with my old drugstore favorite Revlon Colorstay lately, but I think this is a new love for me! Have you tried this foundation? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
